Case Study

Expanded living space with a double-storey extension and single rear in St Albans

  • St Albans

In close collaboration with local studio Chantry Architects, we created a double-storey side and single rear extension for this semi-detached 1930s family home. The industrial look, Crittall-style aluminium and glass, and internal brick slip work brought our client’s vision to life, and the house up to date – showcasing, not compromising its heritage.

Our aim was to have as much glazing as possible in the rear extension, making the most of the natural light. This required extensive steel work from our experienced construction team. However, the family of four was able to stay in the house through the first phase of works, right up to the point of breakthrough.

The final outcome? A modern industrial feel in a 1930s house, combining style and practicality.
